| crazylegs wave start - runners
full stride - start to finish |
| |
can I still run with my friends? |
Absolutely. The wave start system is set up to allow you to run with your friends, family, coworkers, neighbors or the fellow runner you met just that morning.
Any runner can move BACK in the waves. For example, if you are assigned to wave A and your friend is in wave G, you can simply line up in wave G at the start.
Runners can only move BACK in the waves, never forward. |

As a service to our runners, the 2008 Crazylegs Classic will once again feature a wave start, as well as chip timing
This has been implemented in an effort to make an already great running experience even more enjoyable.
Runners in the 2008 Crazylegs Classic will enjoy an uncrowded, full-stride run from the start line to the finish line.
**ALL "WAVES" WILL BE CLEARLY MARKED AS YOU ARRIVE AT THE SQUARE FOR THE 10:00 AM START.

wave start details what is a wave start? |
Simply put, a wave start consists of many staggered starts of small groups instead of one giant start for all participants.
Runners are placed in "waves" consisting of other runners of a similar pace. Each wave has its own start with a short "time cushion" between each wave. This ensures a much less congested race route.
In short, a wave start creates a safer, more enjoyable experience for all participants. |

wave start benefits a great addition for crazylegs runners |
| Wave starts have been implemented in a large number of road races during the past few years, with overwhelming success and praise from runners. What are the benefits of a wave start?
It's Safer...
density of runners on the course will be reduced allowing for safer running as well as easier access for race officials and medical personnel
It's More Fun...
runners will participate in groups of others with similar paces
each wave will have its own start, creating many smaller races instead of one large one
participants are able to run freely, full stride from start to finish without dealing with the usual congestion of a large race |

wave start requirements what does this mean for you? |
| The wave start has been implemented entirely for the benefit of the runners. This is one of the greatest additions to the Crazylegs Classic and important for the future of the race.
In return, there are a couple things we need from you.
Registration Process...
you must register online in order to be placed in a wave consistent with your estimated race time. walkup registrants will be placed in the slower waves
estimated times are very important. please be as accurate as possible when submitting your estimated race time
all past crazylegs participants will automatically have his or her fastest race time from the past two years submitted
those participants without a previous crazylegs time will only be allowed to enter a race time of 36 minutes or greater. if you have proof of a faster race time from another sanctioned race, you must submit that sanctioned race information during the registration process
because of the details involved, we are asking you to register as early as possible in order to facilitate wave placements
race day... please arrive at the starting area early. you must line up in your correct wave
you will not be allowed to run in a faster wave than you are assigned to, but you may run in a slower wave if you wish to participate with a friend.
