the crazyleggerscrazylegs classic volunteers get the work done

From start to finish, handling all the planning and execution of the race, a small group of men and women volunteers run the Crazylegs Classic, working with the cooperation and assistance of the University of Wisconsin National W Club

Tom Grantham, of Merrill Lynch, one of the originators of the Crazylegs Run in 1982, is again General Chairman. Jim Bradley, of Home Savings, has been Race Director for many years. They head up an Executive Committee of volunteers who come back year after year because they enjoy the "work" and want to help the athletic program.

To volunteer please see the form at the bottom of this page.

Water Stop On Saturday morning (Race Day), you should report to the Picnic Point Water Stop near Lot 60 at 9:00 am. Your area supervisor is Dave Gill and he will give you your Crazylegs T-shirt. Be prepared to fill a lot cups because there will be at least l0,000 runners! Your shift will be over at approximately 12:30 pm or when the last runner passes which will be followed by a police bicyclist. After the run has been completed, your Crazylegs Volunteer T-shirt is your "ticket" for free refreshments and admittance to the Post Race celebration at Camp Randall Stadium.

Course Marshals As Course Marshals, you will function as a traffic cop for the participants in the run/walk. In short, you are the eyes and ears of the race and your role is vital. We are asking you to bring a cell phone (911) to report any injury or related problem should an accident occur. You will be assigned a specific location and should report to your area at 9:00 a.m. on Race Day. You will be given a Crazylegs T-shirt at that time. Your shift will end at approximately 12:30 pm or when the last runner passes which will be followed by a police bicyclist. Your Crazylegs T-shirt is your "ticket" for free refreshments and admittance to the Post Race celebration at Camp Randall Stadium following the race.
